Robert McCabe’s photography exhibition, titled “Welcome Stranger, to the land of dreams”, which ended yesterday at Acropolis Museum. As pointed out by Olga Kefalogianni from the stage of the activity of the Acropolis Museum on the occasion of its completion, “its aim is to transfer this exhibition abroad, with the aim, of course, of promoting tourism in Greece”.
His first stop was Tokyo in Japan, from September 25 to October 2, because this year the “Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism” is celebrated.
“The idea for the organization of the exhibition “Happy Foreigner, in the land of dreams”, with the photos of Robert McCabe, was born from our vision of Greek tourism, which serves moderation, balance, respect for people, nature, traditions. Because through the photos of Robert McCabe, an eternal Greece is captured, full of emotion, authenticity, history”, said the minister and added:
Olga Kefalogianni: “A touching impression of the strength, eternity of the culture and spirit of the Greeks”
“His photographic lens highlights people, history, natural beauty, culture. It records monuments, architecture, professions, occupations and habits of daily life. It records another Greece of labor, in limited way, but also in perspective, to hope for a better future. Robert McCabe describes the country in detail, but at the same time penetrates on an emotional level, our inner being, while his photographs return us to places and people, evoking memories and narratives well hidden in the past.
“The photos of Robert McCabe, who lined up the Minister of Tourism, “are a touching description of the strength, the timelessness of the culture and the spirit of the Greek people. And this inspires us to ensure a future where the heritage of Greece will continue to inspire and attract people from every corner of the earth.
