Qor “hair dusting”, video they collected more than 24m. view of social media, is the latest trend in grooming hair that went viral on TikTok.
What the adopters of the trend claim is that we can take the scissors to the ends of the hair, without losing any length – so it’s no wonder it’s getting a lot of attention online.
In fact, as seen in some videos, the technique seems to work and hairdressers with social media accounts are even sharing clips detailing how to cut at home.
“Have you tried dusting your hair?”, asked hairdressers from Dubai-based “The Hidway” hair salon in a video. “We get rid of split ends and keep your hair length long and healthy… Take the clippers without sacrificing an inch of length.”
At the same time the TikTokers named Monique M Rapier, praised the trend for helping to transform her hair.
“Once a week (twice at most), set a timer for 10 minutes and cut out every bit you can find. Cut just above where the tuft of hair splits”he said.
“You don’t have to cut long and you don’t have to cut all your hair at once.”
He went on to say that it’s just a matter of finding the broken pieces of hair and cutting where the scissors start, but warned against cutting all the scissors at once.
“Do this for 10 minutes once a week and you will remember me”he advised.
The experts’ warnings about hair damage
However, the leading hairdressers through social media expressed their objections to the effectiveness of dusting hair at home.
