Passenger traffic increased by 11.4% in the first half (tables)

“Leaving” tourism in Greece reveal data from the country’s airports.

According to data from the Civil Aviation Service, an increase of 11.4% was recorded in passenger traffic in the first half of 2024 compared to last year.

In particular, the total number of passengers in the period January – June 2024 reached 30,594,981, compared to 27,463,127 passengers in the corresponding period January – June 2023.

Regarding the number of aircraft movements (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures) in the first half of 2024 for all 39 airports in the country, whose air traffic control is carried out by the CAA, there will be an increase of + 7,8% in comparison. in the corresponding period of January – June 2023.

In particular, in the first half of 2024 there were 242,170 trips, compared to 224,712 trips in the first half of 2023.

Regarding passenger traffic in the 24 airports managed by the CAA, according to provisional statistics for the first half of 2024, there is an increase of +6.3%.

In particular, the total number of traveling passengers (international and domestic arrivals and departures) reached 4,032,909 passengers this year between January and June, compared to 3,792,575 passengers in the corresponding period of 2023 .

The airports

The airports that welcomed the largest number of tourists this month were Eleftherios Venizelos, followed by Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Thessaloniki, Kos, Chania, Zakynthos, Santorini and Mykonos.

In July, total seat planning reached 5.1 million seats, with an increase compared to last year amounting to 7.8%, according to Airdata tracker data.

In first place, in terms of countries of origin, is the United Kingdom, followed by Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Israel and Switzerland.

It is noted that the airports of Santorini and Mykonos continue to operate with a negative sign: Santorini with -1.9% of available seats for the month of July and Mykonos with -7.1%.
