Memorandum of Cooperation with the Museum of Cycladic Art

A Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at the study and promotion of Cycladic culture was signed on May 17, 2024 in Athens by the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni and the President and Managing Director of the Museum of Cycladic Art, Kassandra Marinopoulou. The parties agree to cooperate, in any appropriate way and way, in a series of actions aimed at the study, promotion and promotion of Cycladic Culture in Greece and abroad.

In particular, the memorandum concerns the cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, through the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades and the Museum of Cycladic Art, through the development of multi-level synergies with the aim of studying and promoting the Cycladic cultural stock. The joint action of EFA Cyclades and the Museum will include, for example:

1. Co-organization of periodic exhibitions, with the possibility of participation and contribution of third-party museums, Greek and foreign.

2. Collaborative research projects on the cultural heritage of the Cyclades.

3. Educational activities (educational programs, summer schools, seminars etc.).

4. Co-organization of conferences, lectures and scientific meetings.

5. Scientific publications and publications, for the general public.

6. Digital applications for viewing monuments and museums.

7. Specialized synergies for Cycladic culture, such as the construction of the corpus of Cycladic artefacts, which will include the digital recording of products of Cycladic culture, in a digital database. The data collected by EFA Cyclades and the Museum belong to the Ministry of Culture.

8. Cooperation at the level of scientific research and in matters of knowledge.

9. Cooperation to raise public awareness for the protection of the material and immaterial culture of the Cyclades and for promotional actions to promote it.

10. Search for resources from the private sector, through sponsorships and donations, as well as from European programs.

11. Collaboration with third parties, Greek and international, scientific, research and cultural bodies as well as local bodies in the Cyclades to achieve the common goals of developing the culture of the Cyclades.

After the signing of the memorandum, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni said: “The Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the Ministry of Culture and the Museum of Cycladic Art opens excellent perspectives and new paths for in the promotion and promotion of the treasures of the museum. , but also, more broadly, of our cultural heritage. The Ministry, the Museum and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades combine their forces, experience and knowledge, channeling them to joint actions that are very important, for saving and protecting the masterpieces of Cycladic culture, as well as for a more systematic study. Soon, we hope to return with concrete initiatives.”

As stated by the President and Managing Director of the Museum of Cycladic Art, Kassandra Marinopoulou: “I would like to thank the Minister, Lina Mendoni, for this unprecedented cooperation. The purpose of the Museum of Cycladic Art is and is to spread and promoting the Cycladic Culture and, more broadly, the Greek cultural heritage throughout the world. The memorandum of cooperation has a duration of 48 months and will be extended by a new agreement.
