the project is about the presentation of a visual group exhibition of contemporary art with the participation of female artists from different nationalities. It focuses on exploring femininity and its various manifestations. The implementation of the Project was carried out by the curators of the artistic group Axionart in collaboration with the Institute of Mediterranean Culture. The exhibition is under the supervision of the ECI – European Communication Institute, and is supported by the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens.
The focus is on femininity and how it is experienced and expressed artistically through symbols and roles, in a modern and rapidly changing world with ancient origins. Women from different countries and cultures, approach the subject, with works of painting, photography, video installations, researching the stereotypical effects of gender about femininity. They try to send a strong message of freedom related to identity, sexuality, politics and history, they explore the symbolism of women as they emerge from their various roles, with critical humor and self-deprecation.
The artists of the exhibition “What is Eve?” invited to capture through their works, the female form, and the existence of many forms and occupations, opening dialogues around social issues and stereotypes, suggesting the power of femininity. The group’s ambition is to present a broad perspective on the contemporary creation of women artists, questioning but also challenging the viewer to engage in readings and thoughts about the dynamic woman, in society and art . The exhibition has an international character, because women from – Greece, USA, Cyprus, Latvia, Italy, Finland, Estonia, Germany and Singapore will reveal their artistic vision.
