The emblems of the first king of the state of Greece, found by the Ministry of Culture in the summer of 2023 in the former royal estates of Tatoi, were given to the Hellenic Parliament, in a special event held by “Eleftherios Venizelos” Trophies Hall of Parliament. The historical relics were received by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, from the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Lina Mendoni.

As described by Mr. Tassoulas according to the opening of the three royal emblems, “history penetrates regimes, penetrates cultures and does the most valuable thing: it teaches. That is why the openings that we are doing here today are not only openings of symbolic monuments, they are also openings of teaching history. ”

The President of the Parliament mentioned “three new exciting, historical and aesthetic exhibitions that enrich the precious ark of memory, which is in the “Eleftherios Venizelos” hall and related to the historical periods of the modern state of Greece “.

Mr. Tasoulas also emphasized that: “the scepter, the crown and the sword of Otho, which he did not wear, we can enjoy them today, the students of Greece, the visitors of the Parliament will enjoy them and thus we can better understand it. an impressive period in Greek history, with its ups and downs, a difficult period in Greek history, during which the then embryonic Greek state struggled. to survive, but also keeping in mind its growth”.

For his part, the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Lina Mendoni, gave an extensive description of the precious emblems and their journey until they arrived in Greece in the Postcolonial era. As he said: “The royal emblems of Othon, without doubt, constitute the historical relics of the Greeks and the Greek nation and must be treated as such.”

Mendoni said that the three important historical relics “will now be the property of all visitors, especially the young students of Greece who visit this particular room very systematically.
