A new tourist investment is promoted in South Kefalonia by the company Ionian Sun owned by Dionysios KoUmoudos. The Ionian Sun has submitted a full environmental impact study (EIA) for the construction of a new five-star hotel unit in the “Georgoutsia o Bouroika” area, in the municipality of ARGOSTOLI. The investment of 5 million euros has 170 beds, while combining with the neighboring plots of land, the total capacity can reach 210 beds.
Where is the New Plan of the Ionian Sun planned?
The new hotel unit will be renovated on a plot of 15,117 sq.m., outside the boundaries of Lourdata Distorya but within a zone that allows construction. The plan includes 16 buildings, distributed in different types, with a central commitment to reception, restaurants and common areas, as well as swimming pools and configuration of the surrounding area. The design of the buildings follows the slope of the land to visually harmonize with the landscape, while 8 rooms for persons with disabilities (PWD) are also planned. The project continues to be connected to a neighboring piece of land, where the development of tourist residences is planned, creating a complex of 210 beds.
The company, according to the MPE, takes care of the necessary infrastructure, such as a sewage treatment plant and an environmental tank, which does not belong to an archaeological site and is more than 200 meters from the sea. The expected benefit for the local community includes the creation of new jobs, strengthening the local service market and upgrading the tourism product in the region.
