What I am repeating is the direction that we should respect the culture of these countries. We must help, support African governments, through their own organizations, to develop their initiatives. Greece is ready to support. It is clear that African countries are the ones that must be at the forefront and we must support them, in all their initiatives”.
Regarding the bilateral meetings he held at the Naples Summit, the Minister of Culture added:
“I saw almost all my colleagues. We had, for example, a very interesting meeting with the Minister of Culture of Canada, to strengthen our bilateral relations in cultural matters. There was a big which background we can talk about.
With the Italian Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, we also had a very positive conversation. Next month, a big exhibition about the southern Italian region of Basilicata will be opened Museum, and I invited him to open it together. He can see his schedule because he just took over. We also talked to the French minister, I met with all the colleagues, and from the African countries.
Finally, when APE-MPE asked about the attitude of other countries towards Greece, which was especially honored by the invitation of the Italian presidency of the G 7 group, Lina Mendoni answered:
“The statement of the Minister of Culture of Italy, Mr. Giuli, was very touching, that, in fact, Greece is “their big brother” and that the whole edifice of Europe and the edifice of Western civilization is based on it. Which, of course, was received with great enthusiasm by all the other G7 member states.
