Where did the Greeks travel during the three days of Clean Monday?

A significant increase in travel traffic was shown in the three days of Clean Monday 2026, according to data from Ferryscanner, compared to the corresponding period last year. This year’s picture shows a clear shift to island getaways, with some destinations registering a high percentage increase, highlighting once again the strong desire of the Greeks for coastal travel.

According to the data, Aegina emerged as the main protagonist of the three-day event, gathering the largest number of bookings and registering a significant increase compared to 2025.

Syros was established as the top choice in the Cyclades (+500%), while Corfu was strengthened by 333%.

Heraklion is also always one of the most classic choices of travelers.

Aegean and Ionian destinations showed great demand: Andros, Naxos, Chania, Skyros, Kea and Mykonos doubled their bookings (+100%).

At the same time, in the Cyclades, Serifos and Sifnos stand out as options for short trips, while in the Saronic region, in addition to Aegina, Spetses and Hydra also show increased mobility.

The lines of Igoumenitsa – Corfu and Piraeus – Agistri continue to be in constant demand, while inter-island connections such as Mykonos – Syros and Kalymnos – Kos show that one-day vacations are increasing.

Alexia Kotsi, Marketing Director of Ferryscanner, said:

“This year’s figures for the three days of Clean Monday show a clear strengthening of travel demand, with strong movement in both established and new destinations on the island.

The significant increase in the Saronic and Cyclades shows a trend towards more flexible and short vacations. At Ferryscanner we systematically monitor changes in the behavior of travelers and we see that the ease and speed of organizing the trip are now the factors of choice.
