Mitsotakis: Tourism workers should be well paid and happy

“The development of tourism must be sustainable, stable, fair and participatory” stressed the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking tonight in the context of the 32nd Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), in Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

He added, in a discussion with the president of SETE Yiannis Parashis, that “the dividend of development must be distributed as equally as possible throughout the country”.

Mitsotakis insisted that “we will not compromise and be complacent with our performance, our competitors will not stop. Investing in quality and sustainability”.

The prime minister noted that the main line of the government’s policy in the second 4 years is the increase in wages, “something that is already happening in the field of tourism”, as he said and explained that the government is more to strictly observe the labor law, which, as he said, should be completely self-explanatory.

“Tourism workers should be well paid and happy with their working conditions,” Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized.

In fact, when asked about it, the prime minister repeated that “when there is a financial margin, the first intervention is to reduce employer contributions”.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis insisted that “2023 will be a landmark year for tourism and added that “there is every reason to be satisfied with the performance of tourism both in the general indicators of arrivals, income and employment and in terms of crisis management, as one. on a specific island and it is taken care of immediately”.
