Actress Despina Stylianopoulou has died

The beloved actress Despina Stylianopoulou, one of the most characteristic figures of ancient Greek cinema, died at the age of 91. In the last period of time, the health of the actress was seriously suffering and she was hospitalized.

The sad news of the loss was announced by his niece, Anna Stylianopoulou. “It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved sister, aunt and grandmother Despina Stylianopoulou passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, who were by her side. Have a good trip our love, we will miss you very much,” he wrote on Instagram.

Despina Stylianopoulou studied voice at the Hellenic Conservatory and theater at the Dimitris Rodiris Drama School, where she graduated in 1959. She appeared for the first time in the cinema in 1960, in the film “Stranger in the Night” and has since established herself in the roles of comics. His usual role was that of a provincial assistant who made mistakes in the language. His first major film success was in 1967 in the film “Ah, My Wife!” next to Alikis Vougiouklakis and Dimitris Papamichail.

In fact, 1967 is considered by many artistic circles as “the year of Stylianopoulos” because he himself participated in 12 different films of the year. Also, his great success was the radio show “The Mistress of the Kitchen” written by Mimi Traiforou, which lasted fifteen years and illustrated the entire period. For many years he was a troupe leader at the Avlaia theater in Piraeus.
