The CRUISE contribution
In 2024, Greece welcomes over 40 million visitors, which 1.8 million (4.5%) came as cruise pasisers.
Cruise has a high history of Greece, offering social and economic benefits of national and local levels. Overall, the impact of the financial effect on Greek tourism in 2023 reaches 2 billion euros, compared to $ 1.4 billion in 2022, while supporting 22,600 jobs.
The general contribution of the GDP industry in the country is worth € 973 million. The contribution comes from four basic activities:
• Passengers’ spending, receiving 540m euros in Greek GDP, representing 55% of the total country’s cruise contribution,
• Cruise Company goods, which entered 398M Euro in GDP,
• Working on shipbuilding, entering 14m euro to general GDP, and
• crew living in Greece, who received a total of 21m euros to overall GDP.
