A concert of high artistic level was given on Saturday, July 20 by the ERT symphony orchestra, at the Panagia Gouverniotissa venue, in the Municipality of Hersonissos. The concert took place as part of the events co-organized by the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Hersonissos, the Association of Newspaper Editors of the Peloponnese, Epirus – Islands and the Culture and Development Organization of the Municipality of Hersonissos “The Governess”.
The concert was attended by many people who came from all over Crete and different regions of Greece.
The performers presented “Cantata work 32”, for Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Choir and Soloists, with music composed by Panagiotis Fournarakis and poetry by Antonis Sanoudakis. The music is based on the poetic composition entitled: “Horses that run fast”.
The Mixed Choir of Heraklion Regional Unity under the direction of Lena Hatzigeorgiou participated in the concert. Soloist: Diamantis Kritsotakis – Mezzo Soprano Maria Kritsotakis – Soprano. Michalis Oikonomou is the music director.
The co-organizers, performers of the concert, the representatives of the institution and the audience were warmly welcomed and thanked by the journalist, member of ESIEPIN, president of the Organization for Culture & Development of Rivers “The Governess” Manolis Argyrakis.
In his greeting, the Deputy Regional Governor for Culture, Georgia Milaki, after thanking the performers for the successful concert, spoke of the importance of the activity and the events of the Region throughout Crete and extended to those present the greetings of the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnautakis, as well as the president of the Regional Council and festival manager Vangelis Zaharis.
In his greeting, the mayor of Hersonissos, Zacharias Doxastakis, said that everyone was happy and honored by the successful concert, dedicated to the memory of Theodoros Antonios, who was from that area. Honorable mention was also made by the mayor for Antonis Sanoudakis, who is from the Peninsula, as well as for Panagiotis Fournarakis.
The event was started and presented by the head of Planning and Curation of the Crete Festival, Ioanna Giannari, who talked about the philosophy of the Crete Festival.
At the end of the concert, Mr. Fournarakis and Sanoudakis from the stage of the concert applauded all the artists, contributors, co-organizers, representatives of the institution and the crowd of citizens present.
