In recent posts on Instagram Reels and TikTok, wedding photographer @capturedbychloeco shows a MOTHER of the bride who wore an Audrey + Brooks dress.
The pale green floral patterned dress, complete with back bow and train, was unique and was worn by the bride’s mother.
The photographer, who shared various moments from the wedding where the mother of the bride was seen posing in the dress, called it “the best outfit that went viral on TikTok”but some commentators began to doubt whether the mother’s choice of dress was over the top and overshadowed the bride.
According to the bride, Amanda DeWitt, and her mother, Lori, who spoke to Today, they picked up the dresses while shopping together in New York. At the time, Amanda admitted the dress was “perfect”.
“I like what she’s wearing”Amanda told the agency. “My mom is impressive. It was as much his day as mine.”
Despite her daughter’s love for the dress, her mother admits there are changes to it. “They were originally strapless – but I didn’t think it was appropriate for a Catholic Church, so they changed the neckline”he said.
However, after the outfit went viral on social media, where the video was viewed over a million times, some viewers said the outrageous outfit overshadowed her daughter in his wedding day.
“Why does the mother of the bride want to be the center of attention?”one person asked on Instagram, while another said: “He is trying to cover his daughter.”
“Wow, she wouldn’t let her daughter be the biggest issue of the day? If my mother did that, I’d send her back to change”someone else wrote.
“We didn’t realize that my dress would cause a debate, but we laughed about it. I’m the last person you expect to go viral. I don’t even post pictures!”said the mother who became a star thanks to her outfit and admitted that some of the comments broke her heart.
“I will never do anything to hurt my daughter”he said. “Everyone just wants to look their best.”
However, not all comments are negativeWith others obsessed with the dress to the point where Lori revealed there is a waiting list for a custom Audrey + Brooks dress at Flora in Madison in New York.
