THE favorite concert series Parklife on Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNFCC) presents again this summer artists of international scope, covering a wide musical spectrum and producing special musical escapades in cleansing at Stavros Niarchos Park.
First visitors, on Saturday 29 June at 21.00, the Buena Vista All Starswho will perform as part of their world tour “A Night in Havana Tour» (A night in Havana). Traveling from the streets of Cuba to the SNFCC stage, they promise an explosive night full of fast Latin American rhythms, lots of dancing and timeless songs like “Chan-Chan»“Two gardenias», «Tula’s room», «Candela», «Carter».
The concert will take place with free entry thanks for his donation Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
When the Buena Vista Social Club – this legendary band of Cuban veterans musicians which took on a second life after the first meeting, almost by chance, in a recording studio in Havana in the mid-90s – they finished their tour “Bye“the 2015, everyone believed that this was really their farewell concert. After this official “goodbye”, their fantastic music continues: oi Buena Vista All Starsthe musical heirs and heirs of the famous Buena Vista Social Club.
The Buena Vista All Stars musical ensemble includes some of the many contrasted Cubans musicians today: the awardee “Carlos Gardel» Ibrahim Ferrer Jr.son of Ibrahim Ferrer of Buena Vista Social Club, the Grammy Award-winning band leader, Juan De Marcos Gonzalezthe laúd virtuoso (a traditional Cuban instrument similar to the lute), Barbarito Torresone of the last surviving members of the original band, as well as an all-star lineup of musicians orchestrated by the maestro Demetrio Muñiz.
The Buena Vista All Stars elegantly combine music tradition with RENEWALfaithfully preserving the sounds of a beloved past while at the same time infusing their performances with a fresh and lively spirit that makes them instant classics.
