the Athens Festival presents the solo performance of Konstantinos Markoulakis “Beloved by Mr. Lin”based on his novella Philippe Claudel “La petite fille de monsieur Linh”, directed by the leading Belgian director Guy Cassiersformer artistic director of his Toneelhuis theater Antwerp. After the sold outs in Thessaloniki and the rave reviews, he will come to Athens for the first time, in Hall H of Piraeus 260, from June 21 and only for 6 performances.
The novel, considered by the director monologuea very moving story of a man who is forced to flee his country with his young granddaughter and seeks REFUGE on Europewithout understanding the language.
THE Konstantinos Markoulakiswho also signed the performance of the play, introduces us to a personal proposal on the stage that leaves the power of the form, which illuminates the essential content of the story, thus returning to pure narration.
THE Guy Cassiersin his first collaboration with KTHBE and his third visit to our country (the first was Athens Festival in 2009 and the second in 2011 in his inaugural season House of Letters and Arts of the Onassis Foundation), guides the great Greek actor and director in his unique sensory universe, using a deeply moving story about diversity, loss, refugees, the power of friendship and the light of optimism discovered in man under every difficult situation
Cashiers are one of the most acclaimed playwrights in Europe. He developed a personal theatrical language in which he married two of his passions: the imaging technology and the literature. Together with his actors he creates a sensory universe where the music maintains a dynamic role. Over the years, his growing interest in European history and his interest in political issues such as immigrationled to major productions such as Mr. Lin’s Beloved, which premiered in 2017 at the Toneelhuis Theater and since then there have been many more four GREAT uploads with many performances in theaters across Europe.
The premiere of the Greek version took place in March on Thessaloniki at the Theater of the Society of Macedonian Studies and was followed by a series of sold out performances. A co-production of KTHBE with the cultural organization “twilight»
