Princess Kako of Japan at the Acropolis Museum

This morning the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni with the general director of the Acropolis Museum Nikos Stampolidis Princess Kako visited Japan, in Acropolis Museum.

The Princess showed particular interest in its sculptural decoration Parthenon, wanted to learn in detail, how to carve statues. His interest was drawn to the colors preserved on the faces of the daughters of the Acropolis, but also to the differences in the hairstyles and clothing of the Caryatids.

Princess Kako will be welcomed at 12 noon National Gallery the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou for the celebration of the Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism.

The declaration of the year 2024 as Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism was agreed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in January 2023, during the official visit of the Greek Prime Minister to Japan.
