Sailing: 150% increase in passenger fees in favor of Port Funds

A day laterthe week of Poseidon, a bad surprise awaits the companies cruise which sails to the Greek islands, but also to mainland destinations.

They were informed by on Monday, June 10, that the refundable passenger fee for islands with Port Fund, set at 2.5 euros, from 1 euro used until now, for the implementation of the ISPS Code. This is the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code and includes the minimum number of security arrangements for ships, ports and government agencies.

The bill payable is the bill paid Port Funds applying the ISPS Code, from international cruise ship passengers. Applies to ports that are not organizations and for the Port Funds that applied the ISPS Code because there are also Port Funds that have plans, but have not been implemented.

There is power, currently, in 15 portsfour of them are in the Cyclades (why not Paros?): Agios Nikolaos, Kos, Monemvasia, Mykonos, Myrina, Nafplio, Naxos, Patmos, Rhodes, SantoriniSouda, Spetses, SyrosSymi and Zakynthos.

In practice, a cruise ship with 4,000 passengers would pay €4,000 per way under the old tariff. Qhour, he must pay 10,000 euros. If a particular cruise ship makes ten calls during the tourist season at any of the mentioned ports, it will be asked to pay 100,000 euros, with a rate increase of 150%.

This decision caused reactions, because it was made at the beginning of the tourist season, while companies make their planning and calculate the cost of operation for their ships per destination.
